1. Classification of European Student Visas

2. Application for European Student Visa

Application for a European student visa usually includes the following documents:

  • Passport: Valid for at least 3-6 months after the intended date of departure from the Schengen area.

  • Visa application: Fill out completely and accurately according to the form of each country.

  • Letter of Admission: An official letter of acceptance from a reputable university or training institution in the country you wish to study abroad.

  • Proof of education: High school/university diploma, transcript, report card and related certificates.

  • Foreign language certificate: Depending on the requirements of the school and study program (eg: IELTS, TOEFL, ...).

  • Proof of financial means: Ensure that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses for the duration of your studies. This may include a savings account, bank statements, proof of your sponsor’s income, or proof of a scholarship.

  • Health insurance: Mandatory for the entire stay.

3. Visa application process

  • Step 1: Prepare documents: Collect and notarize all necessary documents according to the requirements of the country you want to study abroad.

  • Step 2: Make an appointment and submit your application: Make an appointment at the Embassy or Consulate General of that country in Vietnam or through authorized application centers.

  • Step 3: Interview (if applicable): Some countries may require an interview to verify the information in the application.

  • Step 4: Receive results: Visa processing time usually takes from 3 to 8 weeks. You will be notified of the results by email or phone.

4. Some important notes

  • Country-specific requirements: Each European country has specific requirements for documentation and procedures. For example, the Netherlands requires universities to apply for a residence permit for students first, and then students can apply for a temporary visa.

  • Fees: Visa application fees can vary from country to country, usually ranging from 100-300 Euros.

  • Visa extension: Long-term student visas are usually valid for 1 year. After that, you need to apply for an annual extension based on your academic performance at school.
